Leadership Services

The AIU’s Organizational Development and Leadership Services department provides direct assistance to district superintendents, administrators, and school board directors. Services include:

Management Consultation

The AIU assists districts in identifying and coordinating resources and services to provide support in school management, planning, and administration. Services include administering surveys, collecting requested information, and serving as a clearinghouse for current issues impacting districts.

Leadership Seminars

The AIU hosts monthly meetings with the Superintendents’ Leadership Services Team who develop and support leadership development initiatives. The AIU co-plans and hosts an annual professional development program for superintendents on current national and regional educational topics, leadership development strategies, and legislative updates

School Board Seminars and Convention

The AIU provides biannual professional development for new and veteran school board directors addressing a range of topics and management-related issues. The AIU also sponsors an annual convention for school board directors introducing AIU services and highlighting school and program management topics.

School District Liaison

The AIU sends representation to regional superintendents’ meetings including Career and Technology Centers’ meetings and others designated to support superintendents and ensure alignment of services.

Superintendent Commission

The AIU assists with scheduling new and assistant superintendents for the oath of office at the federal courthouse.

Superintendent Advisory Council

The AIU conducts monthly meetings with superintendents on current federal, state, and local issues that impact school districts. The AIU organizes the superintendents into six teams based on specific categories designed to address regional educational issues.

Emergency Management Role-Alike

The AIU holds quarterly emergency management services role-alike trainings for district administrators. Information on relevant topics impacting crisis and emergency management in schools is presented and discussed.

New Superintendent Support

The AIU will offer support to new superintendents to ensure they are provided a seamless transition into their new roles and are given the services and supports needed to be successful.
