(L-R) Licia Lentz and Shannon Fagan speak with Lt. Gov. Austin Davis at The Friendship Circle

On Wednesday, September 25, Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis visited The Friendship Circle in Squirrel Hill to stress the importance of investing in teen’s mental health.

Project SEEKS SES coordinator Shannon Fagan and the AIU’s Director of Alternative Education, Licia Lentz, were present for the meeting. The Jewish Healthcare Foundation Teen Mental Health Collaborative and PA Youth Advocacy Network helped organize the event.

Throughout a brief speech and Q&A session, Davis made it clear that he and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro are prioritizing youth mental health and safety.

“We’re really trying to shift the dynamic in the way educators are thinking about mental health services in our schools,” said Davis.

“Young people’s voices matter and they deserve every chance to impact the greater commonwealth.”
