With a smile and a clap of his hands, Dan Rinkus introduces the newest project of the Marketing and Strategic Communication Department: AIU Perspectives. It’s an online video series showcasing the people behind the programs that make up the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.
“We’re hoping to enlighten local educators, students, and the public about what we do at the AIU,” said Dan Rinkus, Producer/Host of AIU Perspectives and the MarCom Department’s Supervisor of External Accounts. “There are so many great stories bubbling just underneath the surface, both at the AIU’s Central Office and at our 400-plus locations.”

Each season of AIU Perspectives will consist of four episodes; one season in the Fall and one season in the Spring. These 15 to 20-minute episodes will feature interviews with AIU employees, facts and figures about the agency, and in-depth profiles of our programs.
“Our plan is to lift up every division and every program,” added Rinkus. “We know every area of the AIU contributes to the agency’s success, and we want to show people what we’re made of.”
While Rinkus is the person in front of the camera, Multimedia Specialist Matt Brosey is the person behind it. He’s responsible for putting together each episode through filming, editing, and assembling graphics.

“Matt is truly indispensable,” said Rinkus. “Producing a show like this is technically challenging, but Matt has been on top of it every step of the way. I’m very happy with the way it turned out, and I think viewers will be, too.”
Together, Rinkus and Brosey have more than 20 years of media experience. Their efforts are supported by the rapidly growing MarCom Department, whose publications also include AIU Connections magazine and a variety of AIU internal and external communications, website and social media management, and media relations.

“AIU Perspectives is another example of how our department can support the agency’s operations,” said the department’s Director Sarah McCluan, who is the Executive Producer overseeing this project. “The AIU’s 1,200 employees deserve to have the spotlight on them and their critical work.”
The first two episodes of AIU Perspectives debuted on Thursday, October 31 on the AIU’s YouTube channel. The next two episodes will release on Monday, November 25 and Monday, December 16. You can learn more about AIU Perspectives, and the people behind it, on the AIU website.
