Mon Valley Hosts Carnival Mess Fest

Mon Valley opened its doors to students and their families on December 4 to celebrate its annual Mess Fest event. Teachers and staff organized a carnival-themed evening that focused on STEAM activities, featured ornament making and cookie decorating, and gave children the opportunity to meet Santa and his friends.

Students created reindeer from toilet paper rolls and pipe cleaners and raced them down a string zipline. They designed snowmen and used them to launch cotton balls and marshmallows. They got messy with baking soda and shaving cream. And they played holiday games like pin the carrot on the snowman and throw the ring around the reindeer antlers.

Jen Farbaugh, social worker at Mon Valley, said the Mess Fest is one of the most anticipated and well attended events that the school hosts. Thank you to the staff that worked hard to bring festive fun to the community!
