Structured Literacy Training for Autistic & Life Skills Support Educators

November 20 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm

Sessions will lead participants through an exploration of:

  • how reading skills develop
  • the component skills of reading including phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency
  • the skills of vocabulary, inference-making, and content knowledge
  • effective instructional practices and evidence-based intervention approaches

Educators will leave prepared to administer and interpret assessments and implement effective classroom instruction including how to accommodate and modify content for students with complex communication needs.

This training series meets PA Act 49 Structured Literacy requirements.

  1. Evidence-based intervention practices on structured literacy
  2. Explicit and systematic instruction in phonological and phonemic awareness
  3. A) Alphabetic principle, decoding and encoding; B) Fluency and vocabulary
  4. Reading comprehension and building content knowledge
